How to Get Funding for Your Pending Lawsuit Settlement

Getting pre-settlement funding involves three steps: applying with a qualified funder, allowing the funder to work with your attorney, and receiving your advance. The process typically takes 24 to 72 hours.

Getting pre-settlement funding for your pending lawsuit is a straightforward process that does not require extensive paperwork, financial documentation, or credit history. The first step is choosing a reputable funder — look for ALFA or ARC membership, transparent fee disclosure, and no upfront charges — and submitting an application.

The application requires basic information: your name and contact details, your attorney's name and contact information, the type of case you have, the jurisdiction where it is filed, an approximate incident date, and the amount of funding you are requesting. Most applications take 15 to 30 minutes and can be submitted by phone or online.

After your application is received, the funder contacts your attorney to review the case. Your attorney will provide relevant documentation — accident reports, medical records, liability analysis — and their assessment of case strength and timeline. This step requires your attorney to be available and willing to cooperate. Inform your attorney before you apply.

Once underwriting is complete — typically 24 to 48 hours after the attorney provides the requested information — you receive an approval decision. If approved, the funder issues an advance agreement for your review and your attorney's review. After signing, funds are disbursed by ACH transfer or check, typically same day or next business day.

Contact Criterica Capital to start the process. Applications are reviewed seven days a week. Most auto accident and personal injury cases are funded within 48 hours.
