Medical lien funding for providers

Medical lien funding lets a provider who treats personal injury patients on a lien convert those receivables into cash now, instead of waiting for the patients’ cases to settle. The funder buys or finances the receivables, priced on the likelihood, size and timing of each underlying case’s recovery.

Why the receivable is hard to carry. The provider does not control the case. Settlement timing, attorney negotiation and reductions decide when and how much is paid. A practice can be profitable on paper and short of cash for years.

How it is priced. Each lien is tied to a case; each case has a probability of recovery, an expected size and a duration, all readable from the record. Receivables on strong cases in fast venues are worth more. Criterica Capital evaluates lien receivables from that record and prepares them, and portfolios of them, for purchase or financing by independent capital providers.

What a provider sends. The receivable list: patient case reference, attorney, venue, case type, treatment dates and balance. No clinical detail is needed to price timing and recovery.

What the provider gets. Cash on the receivables, portfolio monitoring as the cases move, and a single counterparty instead of hundreds of settlement negotiations.
